my blog is fixed. thanks jon for the advice. it definitely worked and i don't know why i didn't think to try that.
that reminds me of something.
i feel like its selfish, but i often times find myself thinking or saying to myself: "why didn't i think of that?" whenever i come across something brilliant or otherwise inspiring. that is not to say i don't appreciate these things for their inherent value, and it's not as much of a "i wish i would have thought of that" as it is a simple "i wonder why my mind did not create that thought?"
simple example to help clarify (even though it's not a complicated concept): choreography.
when i see new choreography that i think is hot, there are a couple reactions i internally have. 1) damn, that's hot. i don't think i'd ever be able to do that. 2) whoa, that's dope, but that's not so different from [insert random move here]. . . i wonder why nobody ever thought to do that before.
it seems so logical . . .
obviously the second reaction is significantly less fun. oh well.
so i just returned from another weekend in nyc. madness. crazy madness.
and much more fun than i thought, which is saying a lot given my high expectations for the trip.
sooo many freakin people were there,
it was amazing to see everyone again
and great to meet a few new faces.
I've come to the realization that i love heist movies. heist movies and top 5 lists. so i'm gonna start putting up top 5 lists, but first i wanna talk about why heist movies are so dope.
ok, so any good heist movie has a smooth criminal (not a moonwalker reference). this guy (or girl, mind you) has it all: looks, charm, nice clothes, brains with enough wit to outsmart anyone who comes in his way (read: clooney and brad pitt in ocean's eleven, deniro in ronin, pierce brosnan in thomas crown affair, brando in the score [kidding on that one] ). granted, he's a thief, but ya still like him cause he's cool, he thinks his way through problems instead of shooting through them (tho often times the thinking leads to shooting, it's better when it doesn't).
another crucial element to the good heist movie: the chase scene. regardless of if its crucial to the plot, it seems the constant tension of a movie like this ( the kind of tension that makes your hands sweaty when you watch it and makes you smile, not wince with fear ) always builds to a crescendo with a dope ass chase scene. probably the best chase scene i've ever seen in a movie is in Ronin--there's hardly any music playing, just the sounds of the engines, and the cars aren't ferarris or porsches, they're drivers cars. pure. an Audi S8, a BMW M sedan, a Mercedes 6.9, a freakin' Peugeot doing 4 wheel drifts that make your eyes pop out of your head. the best part of this movie's chases . . . no tricks, they really did them they way they look. no camera tricks. the actors were in the cars almost all of the time. 300+ stunt drivers used, that's insane. if you haven't seen the movie, see it just for the chases, it'll blow your mind.
on that note, i'll go with a top 5 list:
My Top 5 Chase Scenes in Movie history (of course, only movies i've seen)
5.) The French Connection (the movie is great to go along with my point of heist movies above)
4.) The Bourne Identity (racin' through the streets of Paris, but pales in comparison to #1 . . .)
girls wearing baseball caps. It's not quite cool, not quite sexy . . .overall i'm not a fan. at all.
granted, some can pull it off quite nicely, but those instances are few and far between. maybe its the kind of hat they wear. one of those "game" hats that say U of M or KU or MSU or COCKS . . . those aren't even cool for guys to wear, so on a girl, it just looks ridiculous. i think.
headwear of other sorts i am definitely a fan of. hats that say something about your style or personality, a bandana, shit, even headbands and sweatbands. however, i don't need a damn yankees logo staring me in the face from some hat. i get enough of that on sportscenter.
i hate the yankees.
